What Hesper cyclone's application in the mineral processing industry

Hesper Hydrocyclone is a device that uses centrifugal force to separate materials. Hydro cyclone is widely used in the mineral processing industry, it can be used to complete the following tasks:

Classification in the grinding cycle system: Hydro cyclone can be used to classify coarse sand and overflow of ball mills, as well as pre-classification before grinding operations. Its process indicators are roughly the same as those of mechanical classifiers, and can basically replace the work of classifiers. Especially when the concentration of the slurry is relatively high and a finer overflow cannot be obtained by using a mechanical classifier, a hydro cyclone must be used. However, hydrocyclone wear out quickly during operation, and the lining needs to be replaced frequently, resulting in higher cost. This problem can be solved by using high wear-resistant materials as linings, such as ceramic lined or silicon carbide lined.

Sand removal and impurity removal operations: In the wet mineral processing process, after the raw ore is processed by the slurry process, quartz sand or impurities may exist in the slurry, so sand and impurity removal are the prerequisites for the mineral processing process. Due to the different properties of ores, cyclones with different specifications may sometimes be used in combination to meet process requirements.

Tailing filling and damming: sand which diameter less than 37 microns in the tailing, cannot be used as a material for tailing damming. Therefore, when using tailing to build a dam, it must be classified by hydro cyclone, and the coarse-grained grade should be left near the dam body. The fine particles flow towards the tail of the tailing pond. At present, tailing filling solutions generally use cyclones for pre-concentration and classification, and then use filters for dehydration treatment to achieve the best results.

Desliming operation: Hydrocyclone can be used for various of metallic ores and non-metallic ores’ desliming operation , can achieve the following purposes: as a preparatory operation before the separation operation, to improve the separation index, and to remove flotation particles from the mineral particles, to remove coarse sand from non-metallic ores to obtain the final concentrate.

Concentration operation: In some process, because the slurry concentration is too low and cannot meet the design requirements, cyclone cluster need to be used for concentration treatment. The tailing will be initially concentrated by the cyclone, and the resulting high-concentration slurry will be dehydrated again through the dehydration screen, while the overflow will be concentrated by the thickener and transported to the dehydration screen, which not only increases the processing capacity of the dehydration screen, but also achieves better results.
