Functions of filter plate in the filter press

Our (Shandong Hesper Rubber Plastic Co., Ltd.) filter press plate’s main material is polypropylene(high molecular weight polypropylene), it is currently the most commonly used. It has very good resistance to various acids and alkali, including good resistance to hydrofluoric acid. 

What are functions of filter plate to the filter press?

    1.Increase the area of  the filter chamber wall. For the filter chamber structure of the filter press, filter plates divide the filter chamber into individual filter chambers, and the filter cloth is attached to the filter plate, increased the wall of the filter chamber and increasing the effective area of the filter cloth, to increase the filtration efficiency.

    2.Create effective space to store filter cake. Both sides of the filter plate of Shandong Hesper’s filter plates are sunken, so that the space in the middle is used to store the filter residue which intercepted by the filter cloth, and there are blind spots on the filter plate to increase the friction between filter plate and filter cakes, can better support the filter cakes.

    3.Squeeze the filter cake. For the filtrate to seep out of the filter cloth, it is necessary to form an effective pressure difference between the two sides of the filter cloth, so that the liquid in the solid-liquid mixture can seep out of the filter cloth, therefore, the equipment needs an external force to pressurize the mixture. At this time, the filter plates act as a specific implementer and transmit the pressure which provided by the hydraulic device to the liquid.

When the filter cakes need to be squeezed and dried for the second time, the filter press need increases the pressure again, which also needs to be completed through the filter plate. This situation will use our membrane filter plate.
